Montana covers 145,552 square miles and is the fourth largest in the United States. Derived from the Spanish word montaņa 'mountain' because of the numerous mountain ranges and the Rocky Mountains. The largest city is Billings with a population of 100,000. Roughly defined by the Continental Divide, the topography of the state is diverse. It runs diagonal through the state from northwest to south-central, splitting it into two distinct eastern and western regions. Montana Realtors must be members of Montana Association of Realtors.

Home to Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park, and Battle of Little Bighorn. Montana is the only state in the whose rivers form parts of three major North American watersheds: The Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, and Hudson Bay which are divided atop Triple Divide Peak in Glacier National Park.
